The following is a sample letter regarding the need for attention to Fibro and over lapping conditions

 Dear (name):

Since you are an influential official who can demand a great deal of attention to specific issues, I am writing to inform you that May 12th, which was designated eight years ago as International Awareness Day for Fibromyalgia and other chronic Immunological and neurological diseases is fast approaching.  As you may be aware, Fibromyalgia, or ME as it is known in a large part of the world, as well as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Gulf War Syndrome and Multiple Chemical Sensitivity Syndrome are devastating illnesses that are striking a growing number of people around the world.   Under the May 12th International Awareness Day charter, they have been combined under the umbrella of CIND based on existing research and commonality of symptoms.

These illnesses, characterized by cognitive problems, chronic muscle and joint pain, extreme fatigue and numerous other symptoms, leave many sufferers ill and bedridden.  The toll that this disability takes on families and the national economy, is enormous.  We do not wish to inundate you with reams of paperwork, instead we offer a link to the fmscommunity.org, 501(3), an organization that contains the latest  research and publications on these conditions. Link:  http://fmscommunity.org  This website or any number of qualified organizations on the world wide web can educate on these conditions and the impact they have on day to day lives, health insurance and the economy.

May 12th date was chosen as awareness day to memorialize the birth date of Florence Nightingale, who contracted a paralyzing, Fibromyalgia type illness in her mid-thirties. She spent the last fifty years of her life bedridden because of it.

We need our government and the medical community to respond and respond quickly and with vigor if a cause, or cure is to be found. Millions of well meaning people who want to hold down a job, raise a family, volunteer their time to worthy causes are being held hostage by a disease that often times will not allow them to leave their house.  I implore you to use your  power as a public servant to help us make this happen. We respectfully ask that more money and medical personnel are dedicated to finding a cause, a cure, or possible some help so that I and other people can be productive members of society.

 Sincerely yours,
